DURGEE

Rock 'n roll on real instruments, blues-inspired and with guitars and vocals in the foreground.
Music created and performed now - inspired by how it sounded in the 70s and 80s!

The music you've been waiting for!

Here's the intro video to my YouTube channel: If you love Rock 'n roll, you'll love this channel, or the website in this case. Welcome to my music world!

New and fresh Rock 'n roll, with young musicians and real instruments. A long-awaited and necessary generational change to attract new followers to a timeless music.

Feel free to listen to the debut album, watch videos and read my comments about the songs, and why not write a few lines yourself? Nothing is as inspiring and fun as hearing how you think and react to the music that is natural to me and hopefully to you too.

The debut album

Eight songs about what it is like to be young in a world of unemployment and mental health, unanswered love and adults with old-fashioned rules and expectations.

Pessimistic? Not at all, on the contrary!

All material exudes hope and wonderful solutions to much of what affects and surrounds a young generation in a modern and highly rationalized society. Do what you do best, follow your inner flame and do not apologize!

© 2022. Recorded and produced during the pandemic 2021, released on Spotify 2022. Music and all instruments: Erik Durgee, Lyrics: Dr G, Producer: Mattis Sunna.

1. Won't Turn Back

The feeling when everything is perfect. Leaving all misery and all adversity behind. Finally! And no one or nothing can do anything about it. A song about the best in life, here portrayed as a crazy car chase. Fasten your seatbelts!

2. Hot Blood

Boy meets girl, girl leaves boy, boy goes out for another round and... A classic story about young love with hopefully the happiest of imaginable endings.

3. Time (A Friend Of Mine)

Problems getting up in the mornings, difficult to be on time, hard to make deadlines as promised..? Many are those who are fighting the clock. But there is hope! If you can't adapt to times and deadlines, you have to turn the tables. Be sure to become friends with time!

4. Sail Away

Love at its best. Eternal and hassle-free, but still not. At a reasonable distance and without difficulty. When it could be so different. Closer and for real. Best a love that sails away than no love at all. Or..?

5. The New Generation

Were the good old days really better? Maybe, but now the young are here, so do not expect things to remain as they were. We do what we want and what we like, so step out of the way!

6. Twosome

A debut album by someone who grew up with Guitar Hero and not include a guitar battle? Don't think so. Take out your controller and play along in this instrumental number!

7. New Start

There is a lot about mental health these days, but what can be done about it? Surround yourself with like-minded people, make no excuses and dare to be who you are? Perhaps. Or just put the world around you and your old self aside and start over. Time for a new start!

8. Life Kicking In

The red or the blue pill? If it were that simple. But that doesn't stop from dreaming that the salvation from shattered dreams and ambitions would be a magic pill. An easy shortcut to something far from all that only the monthly salary holds you on to.

Be patient, the band is on its way

The line-up seen in the video for Hot Blood has unfortunately been dispelled by the wind. There are several reasons. Out of town education, different priorities and the pandemic that made some focus on other things. But the adventure continues. During the last six months, I have searched the country for musicians with the right age, attitude and skill, so you can expect to see The Erik Durgee Band on concert posters in the near future.

Do you already feel that it is time to see us live and have a suitable arena for us to play in - get in contact and we will put something together!

Erik, 19 and 7 years old (after having played "Through the Fire and Flames"

on Expert for the first time).

A short presentation

Erik was born in Stockholm in 2001 and showed great musical talent at an early age. Even before starting school, he mastered his favorite toy Guitar Hero as a full-fledged professional. Every spare moment he stood in front of the TV and played the music that would later become his inspiration and an obvious backbone in the music he creates as an adult. Aerosmith, Guns n 'Roses, Led Zeppelin became early natural elements in Erik's everyday life.
It was obvious for his parents to supplement the toy guitar early with a real guitar and sign him up for guitar lessons. Erik developed quickly and received much praise for his ability to quickly learn new pieces. With teachers who understood the importance of playing popular songs, the interest was maintained over the years.

Graduation after primary school. Erik and friends play Metallica- and UFO songs in front of at least a thousand students and parents.

Erik applied to Södra Latins High School in Stockholm after 9th grade. Its top education in electric guitar had only a few places and Erik was accepted on grade merits and the quality of his guitar playing before a reviewing jury. The education was actually more on the theme of jazz and ensemble playing, but still provided great insight and knowledge of musical theory, which of course was valuable in his own, free work after school. This in-depth knowledge forms a good basis for both historical understanding and musical knowledge, which creates security and inspiration in one's own creation.

Graduation after high school. A covid-adapted gig at home in the backyard.

The Covid19 pandemic struck just as Erik graduated and many doors were closed to get out and play before an audience. The time in the quarantine-like life was devoted to rehearsal and  music creation, which culminated in the debut album "Won't Turn Back" which was released in April 2022. The following summer has been devoted to successfully gathering competent musicians to start the band needed to come out and finally get to play and entertain in a way that a rock-loving audience deserves. The adventure is still alive and continues...
